Statement from Rabbi Miriam on Recent Attacks in Israel

Over the last week, 11 people were killed in terrorist attacks in Israel – from the Jewish, Druze, Arab-Israeli and Ukrainian communities. We firmly stand against this hate, and unite against terror. Torah extends moral imperatives to us to learn and practice – to pursue justice; to seek peace and pursue it; not to stand idly by as our fellow human bleeds. Torah extends to us the fundamental assertion that every human being is created in the image and likeness of the Divine. These are teachings we need to learn through the examples of the Israelis and Palestinians, partnering organizations and movements, who refuse to be enemies, who keep working for mutual recognition and justice. As we look toward Pesach, we seek to deepen our commitments to human dignity, liberation and peace.
