KAVOD/Honour is a new feature of our monthly newsletter. Kavod means honour in Hebrew, and it expresses our respect and appreciation towards donors and honourees alike. Taking this opportunity to support the DJC also provides a way for members to know about birthdays, anniversaries, Bar/Bat Mitzvahs, graduations, career appointments, deaths, yahrzeits, or any significant events happening within the congregation.
The amount of donations will not be published, nor will donations that the source does not wish to be publicly acknowledged. This is about tzedakah within the family, so to speak, with the DJC as beneficiary of gifts honouring family and friends.
The Hebrew phrase Kol ha Kavod is translated as “congratulations, well done”. That is the message as the DJC expresses thanks for donations from:
Diane Whol (U.S.A.), cousin of member Richard Chartash, honouring the DJC and the devoted services of both Richard and his wife Harriet to the congregation since its inception.
Melissa and Jonathan Nightingale, for a donation to cover the cost of annual membership fees for a family in financial need.
Jordan Solomon in appreciation of Rabbi Miriam’s authentic, unique, and profound Movement Prayer during Neilah services and remembrances of his late friend, Ian Bird.
Friends, family, and relatives of the late Dina Lieberman, wife of member Lorne Vineberg.
Please visit our DONATE page and make a donation in honour of one another’s simchas, accomplishments, milestones, and sorrows.
