Shiva Minyan Leader Training
February 28 @ 7:30 pm - 8:30 pm
Would you like to learn how to lead a shiva service and play an important role in the life of our Jewish community? If you have a working knowledge of Hebrew and are comfortable singing, then you have all the necessary qualifications.
The DJC relies on a dedicated group of volunteers who take on the mitzvah of leading shiva minyanim when Rabbi Glickman is not available. Alan Gotlib will lead a series of four weekly one-hour workshops beginning on February 28th that will enable you to help grieving families in leading shiva services in a house of mourning. You will learn about all the traditions and customs around death and mourning. Because shiva minyan leading involves members taking on a ritual leadership role, we also require that you have taken or agree to take our Hineni: Ritual Leadership Program offered periodically by the DJC.
Training dates and times:
Wednesday February 28th 7:30 to 8:30 p.m.
Wednesday March 6th 7:30 to 8:30 p.m.
Wednesday March 20th 7:30 to 8:30 p.m.
Wednesday March 27th 7:30 to 8:30 p.m.
