Nature Walk in The Don Valley
October 3 @ 10:30 am - 12:00 pm
Join the Climate Action Team for a guided nature walk with Jo Hunter, a Certified Master Naturalist. On this 3.3 km circular walk, we’ll be visiting the Beechwood Wetland, Sun Valley and Cottonwood Flats. You’ll learn about the benefits of urban forests and the difference between native and invasive species. We’ll discover how the Don Valley has been restored to a healthier natural environment from the damage caused by industry. This is a good opportunity to talk with members of the Climate Action Team about actions we can all take to help address our climate crisis.
The terrain is fairly flat with some gentle hills. You’ll need good walking or hiking shoes, water, a sunhat and suncreen. There are no washrooms on the trails.
Location: We’ll meet at the Thomas Hauser Memorial Trailhead. It’s located at the southeast corner of the Loblaws parking lot at 11 Redway Road, East York. See map attached. It’s accessible by car and public transit.
To register, please email firstname.lastname@example.org. We’ll advise registrants by 9 AM on the morning of the walk if we need to cancel due to bad weather.
