An event every 2 weeks that begins at 7:30 pm on Thursday, repeating until December 17, 2020
Are you worried about how you’ll fill your time in the long winter ahead? Have you ever wanted to make your own tallit? Well, this is your opportunity to do both!
Starting on Thursday, November 19th at 7:30 p.m., the DJC will be offering Zoom workshops to enable you to design and sew your own tallit. No sewing skills are necessary to participate. DJC member Alan Gotlib will be leading the sessions (with some guidance from Rabbi Miriam) and we have some experienced sewists who will help with sewing the initial rectangle. The rest will be done by you by hand with a very easy technique called appliqué, which Alan will demonstrate for you.
It’s hard to say exactly how long it will take to complete your tallit, but we will be meeting online every second Thursday evening until your tallit is completed. Of course, not all the sewing needs to be done while online, but it can be quite enjoyable to sit at home chatting with others on Zoom while creating your own personalized tallit. There’s nothing like spiritual creativity to lift your spirits!
If you’d like to join us and receive the Zoom link, please email Alan at firstname.lastname@example.org.
