8 Nights of Chanukah with the DJC! Night 8: Movie & Takeout
December 25, 2022 @ 6:00 pm - 6:20 pm

Come celebrate 8 nights of Chanukah with DJC!
December 25th, 6:00-6:20 PM (on zoom)
A note from the Social Justice Committee:
Social Justice, Chanukah and ‘bringing in the light’.
Chanukah is a time of hope, family gathering, community, and being enlightened, both literally and metaphorically. Some people have been forced to hide in order to stay safe. Others have been rendered invisible intentionally, so we won’t see and care about them. In a world that is meant to be just, we must be compelled to see what is unjust, bear witness, and then advocate for and act to change. The DJC Social Justice Committee has been doing exactly this for many years, by deepening our commitment to tangibly create a more just world one project at a time. On Chanukah, we light eight candles. And this year each night when the DJC menorah is lit, you will light yours at home, and the Social Justice Committee will focus on a different issue, one for each night. This way we will illuminate what is critical, unequivocally declaring that social justice matters as we work together to create a more just world.
The Social Justice Committee is delighted to have been invited to dedicate 7 Social Justice initiatives, one for each of the candles at Chanukah beginning on December 19, the 2nd candle and every night until the 8th and final candle. The dedications are as follow: Antiblack Racism, Climate Change, Food Banks, Homelessness, Refugee Settlement, Multifaith Connections and Truth+Reconciliation.
Membership allows our programs to be accessible to all. Everyone is welcome at the DJC. If you are not a member and would like to attend, we are grateful for any donation you wish to contribute, which you can do so HERE.
