DJC SEEKING INSPIRING TEACHERS & INNOVATIVE TEEN PROGRAM LEADER

We are currently hiring teachers for our after school program as well as a leader for our new teen program.  If you would like to apply, please be sure that your application specifies which position(s) you are interested in.

Teachers — Grade 4, Grade 5, Grade 6

We are looking for dynamic teachers for our arts-based program for September 2017.  Our school runs from 4:15 to 6:15 pm on Thursday afternoons and caters to students from SK to Grade 6.  In our inclusive and engaging environment, we aim to teach students about Jewish history, culture, and traditions, with a focus on creating a Jewish identity in the modern world.

Our ideal candidates will have experience with formal and/or informal Jewish education and are creative thinkers and educators.  Lesson planning and curriculum development experience is preferred.  Hebrew language skills are an asset, but not a requirement for this position. Our teachers are paid $100 per class ($25 for their lesson plan; $75 for teaching).

Please send your CV and cover letter to Alysse Rich, Principal of the Children’s Jewish Studies Program, by June 12th.

Teen Program Leader

The DJC is developing an exciting new program for our teens.  The Teen Program Leader will be responsible for meeting with teens, mentoring them in their work in a variety of voluntary and paid positions, leading conversations and Jewish learning, and helping us to further develop our program.

Our ideal candidate will have a background in Jewish learning, especially the ability to connect Jewish texts and teachings with the modern world; experience with formal/informal Jewish education; and experience working with teens.  Preference is for a candidate who also has experience developing new programs.

We have a group of teens ready to dive in — now all we need are the skills of an experienced teen leader!
